Question by Tina: Is there a free software that blocks “active scripting” and allows you to blacklist a certain website but …?
not other websites?
I guess what would be handy is something that was either
1) had a great deal of room for configuration?
or
2) At least had some type of switch on/off in the system tray that you could switch off active scripting easily?
I think option 2 would be more desirable but option 1 would be okay if you could eliminate mouse-overs on websites without eliminating all scripting.
I want something more than just adding sites to my “restricted zone” in Internet Explore’s options and security settings. Something a little more flexible and configurable.
I have Firefox but prefer something compatible with Internet Explorer (8).
I found a program called “Flash and Pics Control” that all you have to do is click on the “Tools” and then “Flash and Pics Control” and then uncheck “Enable Java Script” and that works really well. It’s pretty simple. I just allow everything and before I go to NASCAR’s web site then I use that program to disable Java Script. Works like a charm.

Use Firefox with ‘NoScript” add-on; it’s just what you’re looking for.
Use FF for general & everyday surfing needs, especially to sites you don’t know anything about. Depending on how many plug-in’s and add-on’s you “hang” onto FF, it’s faster than IE, & inherently safer.
Note: Current threats include ‘Antivirus 2009′ or variants.
Because architecture of the Internet (notably ‘Flash’ scripting), vulnerabilities are readily exploited in Internet Explorer, & it is now urgent that you use Firefox with current ‘NoScript’ add-on, which will prevent “opacity-based attacks”.

Try viewing a site with FF first, and if it does not allow the interaction you require, switch & use IE (but only when it’s absolutely necessary), or to use ‘Active X’ or ‘Flash’ scripting: but use these at your own peril. Flip back to FF when finished.
