Q&A: Obama deleted part of his blog? Another “flip-flop”?

Question by Kerbachard! -El Wapo™ ©: Obama deleted part of his blog? Another “flip-flop”?
Obama website’s opposition to successful surge gets deleted:

A funny thing happened over on the Barack Obama campaign website in the last few days.

The parts that stressed his opposition to the 2007 troop surge and his statement that more troops would make no difference in a civil war have somehow disappeared. John McCain and Obama have been going at it heavily in recent days over the benefits of the surge.

…An Obama spokeswoman said it was just part of an “update” to “reflect changes in current events,” …

But some might see the updating as part of Obama’s skip to the political center now that he’s secured the Democratic nomination. “Today,” McCain said Tuesday, “we know Sen. Obama was wrong” to oppose the troop surge.

Bush never revised his thinking on anything, even when facts necessitated such a revision. That’s where the “flipflop” language comes from, from those dead set against common sense flexibility and the fluidity of reality.

At first the surge was working less well. Now it is working more well (although the lack of political progress remains the major point). Obama updated his position as the facts have evolved. That is not a flip-flop; that is commendable.

At least he condones his user’s opinions, opposition posts wouldn’t last a day on John McCain’s website. They’re accounts would be deleted.

You seem to mistake “flip flopping” with knowing when you were wrong and changing your views accordingly.

He really has no idea what to do with Iraq. I used to commend him on his stance in 2007. For 5 years he thought there was no solution, but all of a sudden he changes his mind during the most crucial time in his political career.

“”Let me be clear: There is no military solution in Iraq and there never was,” said Obama.

“The best way to protect our security and to pressure Iraq’s leaders to resolve their civil war is to immediately begin to remove our combat troops. Not in six months or one year – now.”

I wish you swift-boat guys would actually listen to what the man has actually said and not listen to what the right wing radio propaganda artists SAY he said. Just repeating BS doesn’t add much to the debate. Basically your position is that the Bush Junta did everything right and everything worked out as planned….’we’ won and now Iraq is a fully functioning democratic state with a constantly improving physical infrastructure and a happy productive population freedom loving citizens. The reality is a lot different. ‘The Surge’ has temporarily lowered the equilibrium of violence in Iraq, but in that part of the world the pressure still builds. If you put enough cops on the streets in the worst neighborhoods the bad guys will lay low, but that doesn’t mean that they’re going to turn into good guys. Everyday a new crop of ‘bad guys’ get old enough to get involved with one of the dozens of different factions in Iraq. Each of these factions want to be the top dog and none of them are inclined to be the top dog by getting folks to vote for them. Bullets, not ballots are the currency of the day in Iraq. The only thing these groups have in common is that they want the US out. McCain is inclined to maintain a ‘permanent’ surge in Iraq at the cost of however many lives and limbs and borrowed money it takes. The question is…’takes to do what’? If that’s your position, just say so, but at least give us some logical, workable reason to continue this military occupation. In other words, what’s in it for us?
